A combination of my favorite things
People questioned me when I retired nearly five years ago about what I would do with all of my free time. I simply replied, "I'm a gardener," in response. For those of us who enjoy gardening, the answer is obvious and needs no further explanation. A day rarely goes by when I am not outside planning, working, or enjoying my gardens.
My Colleyville Garden combines a number of my favorite things. I have plants for both shade and sun, and I also appreciate hardscaping with stone walls, flagstone walks, and rock edging. The daylilies, which are among my favorite sun plants, should be in bloom while you're here. My favorite shade plants include Japanese maples, hosta, and leopard plants.
I enjoy brightly colored annuals in pots around our pool feature, growing tomatoes and the bubbling moss-covered water feature outside our front door. Welcome to my garden.

Example of what can be done in a smaller yard
Welcome to our garden.
Just an example of what you can do with a smaller yard.
Lots of perennials and annuals as well as an herb garden near the kitchen.
Enter through the side gate to the backyard.
There is a large deck and pergola for entertaining, with many more flowers ,succulents, and whimsical touches too

Have learned a lot about Texas Gardening
We moved to Texas in the summer of 2018 from Southern California. Only the wisteria, hardy hibiscus and hydrangeas in the backyard are still here from the original owners. Everything else I have personally planted over the years. I was warned by everybody not to mess with the roses because of RRD. I couldn’t do it. In almost 5 years, I have lost maybe three or four to RRD and two to gall. To me, it’s totally worth it.
Gardening in Texas has been quite a challenge for me, but I have learned a lot over the years from fellow gardeners and I feel like I have finally started to hit my groove. Enjoy my garden. It is a continual work in progress ( as you all know very well).
There is no agenda, can come and go as you please between 11am and 3pm.
